Platform of Medical and Dental Society is a voluntary organization dedicated to strengthening the bond between doctors and patients while promoting evidence-based academic activities and healthcare support across Bangladesh. As President, General Secretary, and Member, the role was central to leading nationwide voluntary healthcare initiatives—coordinating with government and non-government stakeholders, training doctors and volunteers, and driving large-scale awareness and emergency response programs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as key leader in running the organizational activities to increase the rapport between doctors and patients, promote evidence based academic activities, provide career guidelines and provide healthcare and voluntary support to the nation especially in need.
- Collaborate with the government, non-government stakeholders and partners, NGO, UN bodies and other organizations to support and strengthen the healthcare system of Bangladesh.
- Motivate and train a group of doctors, medical students and volunteers to promote the organizational activity across Bangladesh.
- Develop the organizational capacity-building strategy and contribute to implementing capacity-building plans, including their monitoring.
- Lead the awareness-raising activity, especially during World AMR Awareness Week (WAAK), Non-communicable disease awareness campaign, Dengue-Chikungunya awareness campaign across healthcare professionals, policymakers, and laypersons.
- Lead the 24/7 COVID-19 hotline "Saara" to support the remote and disadvantaged population of Bangladesh.
- Plan and implement the field operation to promote the activity of Saara through community volunteers.
- Facilitate to organize different meetings, awareness programs, and other capacity-building exercises.
- Manage and guide local leaders in the different divisions and support in leading localized implementation of organizational activity.
- Communicate and collaborate with various donor organizations for financial support.
- Day-to-day supervision of various activities through efficient planning, tracking, and monitoring.
SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS
- Volunteered as a Core leader to support the National Corona Control Room in the current COVID-19 pandemic.
- Distributed Personal Protective Equipment's (PPE) worth 10588 USD in 250 hospitals, Upazila Health Complexes and Medical College Hospitals of Bangladesh.
- Ensured management of and 48,000 general and 5,500 mental health consultations to a diverse group of patients including marginalized population of Bangladesh.
- Directly help 20000 non-government doctors to register for COVID-19 vaccination, serve 3800 queries regarding COVID-19 vaccination.
- Arranged 7 health camps in different flood affected areas of Bangladesh amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Counseled 300 patients for their mental health issues especially during critical period of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Major Responsibilities
- Act as key communication leader in running the organizational activities to promote rational use of antimicrobials in One Health approach.
- Train physicians and veterinarians on antimicrobial resistance through a structured training module called the Continuous Professional Development Expansion Training on Antimicrobial Resistance and Antimicrobial Usage with technical support from Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
- Provide technical assistance in developing specific AMR program-related standard operating procedures, and other relevant training and communication materials.
- Lead the collaboration of AMR activity with different government and non-government stakeholders of Bangladesh.
- Develop the organizational capacity-building strategy and contribute to implementing capacity-building plans, including their monitoring.
- Lead the awareness-raising activity, especially during World AMR Awareness Week (WAAK), across healthcare professionals, policymakers, and laypersons regarding AMR.
- Facilitate to organize different meetings, awareness programs, and other capacity-building exercises.
- Manage and guide local leaders in the different divisions and support in leading localized implementation of AMR-related activity.
- Promote BARA activity in different areas and location of Bangladesh.
key Achievements
- Successfully led the collaboration of different stakeholders i.e., Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Communicable Disease Control (CDC), Bangladesh AMR Response Alliance (BARA), Platform of Medical and Dental Society, to celebrate the World AMR Awareness Week (WAAK) to raise awareness from policy makers to laypersons regarding AMR related activities since 2020.
- Led the celebration of WAAK since 2017 by engaging 100+ medical college campuses, 150+ academic institutions, pharmacists, patients, attendants and laypersons.
- Trained 100 physicians from both human and animal health sector regarding AMR and AMU.
- Collaborated with the member of Parliament to strengthen policy making activities to combat AMR.
- Led around 20 awareness campaign physically in different medical colleges, schools and other academic institutions across Bangladesh.

Bangladesh AMR Response Alliance (BARA) is a multi-stakeholder platform dedicated to promoting rational use of antimicrobials through a One Health approach, bringing together human and animal health sectors to combat antimicrobial resistance across Bangladesh. As Trainer cum Member, the role was central to leading communication and training initiatives—developing structured AMR training programs, driving policy collaboration, and organizing nationwide awareness campaigns to strengthen antimicrobial stewardship.
